Please see the mandatory equipment for your distance. The compulsory equipment is for your safety during the event and it is your responsibility to carry this equipment in good condition. Any failure to do so will result in a penalty in accordance with the competition regulations. Due to the weather conditions, the organisation team has the possibility to extend the mandatory equipment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
MINIMUM MANDATORY EQUIPMENT LIST
The obligatory material per Person is:
- Backpack
- Mobile phone (switched on at all times) the participant is responsible for ensuring that the phone is always working and switched on
- Charger for cell phone
- 1 powerbank to charge the phone
- 2 headlamps and enough spare batteries or rechargeable batteries for the whole route
- Emergency Insulation blanket (min. 140cm x200cm)
- Whistle
- 1 replacement T-shirt
- 1 long-sleeved undershirt
- 1 all-weather jacket suitable for use in bad weather, made of Gore-Tex or similar material, waterproof (to min. 10,000mm) and breathable
- 1 pair of long pants for bad weather in the mountains. They must be made of Gore-Tex or similar material, waterproof (water column minimum 10'000 mm) and breathable
- A warm long sleeved layer such as Primaloft or down feather
- A pair of long running tights, trousers or leg warmers
- A headband or cap
- Sunglasses
- Gloves
- Food supply (e.g. dried fruit/nuts, gels, energy bars etc.)
- A water bottle or bag (min. 1.5 litre capacity)
- Crockery, cups and cutlery for catering at the base camps (is not on site)
- 1 silk sleeping bag or similar (obligatory for overnight stay in the Life bases)
- Reflector band must be worn and visible from 21:00
Obligatory material per team:
- An additional phone or GPS device on which the route data given by the organizer has been downloaded. Mobile phone is allowed. Note the roaming costs for the phone. A watch does not replace a GPS device or a phone. When using the phone as a GPS device, an additional power bank is recommended.
- Route map (will be provided by the organizer)
- 1 First aid kit, must include at least: Elasticated Emergency bandage min. 200cmx 4cm (no Tape!) | 2 Sterile compresses 10cmx10cm | 2 Vinyl gloves | 5 alcohol wipes or disinfectant spray | Wound plaster | 1 glow stick (will be given by the organization)
- Cash Swiss Francs (not all huts accept credit cards)
- GPS tracker (will be given by the organizer with instructions at the start number distribution with the start number) The GPS tracker must be worn during the entire race according to the instructions. The GPS tracker must be changed at the Life Base Belalp. Each team has to hand in the GPS tracker and gets a new one for the second part of the course.
- Running pack to carry mandatory gear throughout the race
- Smartphone: the runner must be reachable at any time before, during and after the race: with international roaming that works in the countries where the event takes place | each runner should save the organization's safety phone numbers, not mask/block their number and do not forget to start the race with the battery fully charged | keep the phone ON at all times, airplane mode is forbidden and could result in a penalty | LiveTrail application installed and activated | an external battery is highly recommended
- Personal collapsible cup 15 cl/5oz minimum (bottles or flasks with lids are not accepted)
- Minimum water supply of 1 liters
- Two working headlamps with spare cells/batteries for each headlamp. Recommendation of 200 lumens or more for the main torch light.
- Survival blanket of 1.40m x 2m minimum / 55 inches x 80 inches or survival bag
- Whistle
- Food reserve. Recommendation of 800kcal (ex : 2 gels + 2 power bars)
- Jacket with hood for bad weather in the mountains/course terrain. The jacket must be made of a waterproof* and breathable** membrane (e.g.. Outdry) *minimum recommended 10 000 Schmerber (10,000 mm). **RET value recommended: minimum of 13. | the jacket must have an integrated hood or one which is attached to the jacket by the original system designed for that purpose by the manufacturer | the seams must be sealed | the jacket must not have sections of fabric which are not waterproof. Air vents fitted by the manufacturer (under-arm, in the back) are accepted
- Long-legged trousers or race leggings OR a combination of leggings and socks to cover the legs completely
- Cap, bandana or Buff®
- Additional warm second layer: a warm second layer top with long sleeves (excluding cotton) weighing at least 180g (6,5 onces) OR the combination of a long-sleeved warm undergarment (first or second layer, excluding cotton) weighing at least 110g (4 onces) and a wind-proof jacket* with durable water-repellent protection. *the wind-proof jacket does not replace the mandatory waterproof jacket, and vice versa.

- LED, reflective vest or belt, or reflective band to put around upper arm
- Self-adhering elastic bandage for bandaging or strapping (minimum 100 cm x 6 cm / 40 inches x 2,5 inches)

- Additional warm second layer: a warm second layer top with long sleeves (excluding cotton) weighing at least 180g (6,5 onces) OR the combination of a long-sleeved warm undergarment (first or second layer, excluding cotton) weighing at least 110g (4 onces) and a wind-proof jacket* with durable water-repellent protection. (E51 / E35) *the wind-proof jacket does not replace the mandatory waterproof jacket, and vice versa. (E51 / E35)
