The E35 delivers its competitors to the very foot of the imposing Eiger north face. The trail winds its way up via Spätenalp to Wengen then continues steeply up the infamous Gemsenweg, or ‘chamois way’ to finally top-out on the Männlichen ridge, where the rewards are boundless, breath-taking views deep into the enchanting Lauterbrunnen valley below. With the 3 peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as a constant backdrop now, the race moves on towards Kleine Scheidegg and the glacier moraine below Eigergletscher, at which point a sharp turn brings you abruptly onto the traverse below the looming Eiger north face. There is truly no better place to experience the glacial winds and ancient limestone facets of the Eiger than here. The E35 route then descends the Eiger Trail to Trychelegg and on to the finish in Grindelwald.
The E35 trail should be completed under the partial self-support principle. This means that as a competitor you are responsible for your own food and drinks between check-points and refreshment zones and must carry the mandatory gear as stated in the Mandatory Equipment.
Requirements
A good physical condition and some experience in trail running are essential for tackling the E35. In addition, as a competitor you must be able to complete the race in a partial self-sufficiency according to the ethics of trail running. We reserve the rights to exclude persons from participating in the race.
